This year’s Art Heals took place at Santa Monica Art Studios www.santamonicaartstudios.com. This sellout event for over 300 guests included great food, hosted wine bar, live music and over sixty pieces of original artwork created by individuals living with mental illness. One hundred percent of art sales went to the Step Up on Second artists! Every artist sold their artwork and thirty-nine pieces of artwork were sold overall! Big thank you to our donors, volunteers, staff and members.

Art Heals is a celebration of the human spirit and a chance to highlight the creativity of those who are using art as a form of expression and positive force in their life. Art Heals allows Step Up to raise the much-needed funds for our free, life-changing services, and also presents a wonderful opportunity for our members to reinvent themselves as artists while simultaneously erasing the stigma surrounding mental illness. This wonderful event engages both our members and the community towards building hope, one step at a time. The involvement of our members in Art Heals offers them a chance to find a sense of purpose and identity, which helps to facilitate empowerment, foster change and progress towards reintegration into society. The personal growth and improvement in socialization skills, confidence and self-esteem in our members due to their involvement in the last three Art Heals events is phenomenal and we are looking to continue that prospect.
